The 5th WORLD TANGO FESTIVAL, to take place in Buenos Aires from 8th to 15th October 2006, will have a truly spectacular developement, considering the superb quality of the couples of Great Masters who will be in charge of the workshops and will perfom during the Opening and Closing Shows. There will also be six Great Orchestras playing live through the seven nights of the festival, plus various exclusive highlights, such as top level artistic performances scheduled for the different Buenos Aires' milonga nights.

This year, the 5th WORLD TANGO FESTIVAL will take place simultaneously with the First International Meeting with the Great Milongueros of Buenos Aires.

Along the week, the festival's participants will attend special workshops, taught by "milongueros porteños" from different neighbourhoods. They have witnessed the early days of Tango and its developement through the last decades within the ambient of the most emblematic Milongas in Buenos Aires.

In these unique workshops, that will include testimonial and documentary material, the Great Milongueros of all times will expose the characteristics and evolution of Tango through the decades, sharing their impressions and experiences. In addition, they will show and teach steps and figures that were born right on the dancefloors of the milongas porteñas, where these milongueros have been, and still are, dear and reputable characters, well known by their precious contribution to the History of Tango.

The Great Masters next to the General Director of the WORLD TANGO FESTIVAL, at the end of the Closing Show (2005), which took place at grand ballroom Palais Rouge with the attendance of more than 800 tangueros from 35 countries.
 

The 5th WORLD TANGO FESTIVAL OFFERS YOU:

• 12 classes of Tango, Milonga and Vals, to be selected from a total of 150 classes by the Great Masters, for 4 different levels:

* Classes for Beginners

* Classes for Intermediate Level

* Classes for Advanced Intermediate Level

* Classes for Advanced Level and Teachers, some of them including special contents about Methods and Techniques in the teaching process, New approaches to the Teacher-Sudent Relationship, Pedagogical Criterion, Historic Frame in Tango.

In addition to the above mentioned 12 classes, the 5TH WORLD TANGO FESTIVAL offers you:

* One Master Class. Emblematic Tango personalities will be in charge of them, offering a variety of topics. Each festival's participant will select one Master Class.

* One workshop of the International Meeting with the Great Milongueros of Buenos Aires, to be selected from the different offered workshops.

* 7 Milonga nights at the best dance halls in Buenos Aires, with live performances of Great Orchestras, the attendance of Milongueros and tangueras from Buenos Aires and the Great Masters of the Festival.

* 2 spectacular Opening and Closing Shows with the Great Masters' performances and the best live orchestras of the 5th WORLD TANGO FESTIVAL.

* "The Milonguero's Night", a homage to Tango dancers of well known career, who night after night continues to create and enrich the history of Tango in the neighbourhoods' sport clubs and in every Tango venue in Buenos Aires.

* Dance exhibitions during the Milonga nights, by Masters of the dance specially invited.

* Election of the "2006 Tango Couples", on each level. All participants registered at the 5th WORLD TANGO FESTIVAL can participate. Winners will receive special prizes and free registrations for next festivals.

* 5th International Tango Fair, featuring the best offer in books, recordings, video tapes, handcrafts, shoes and Tango garments for all participants.

* "Nations Celebration Day", with a typical barbecue, and argentinian folk dances. All participants who wish to offer a dance, song or recitation from their countries, do it in this joyful and relaxing day at a country house.
